1. LRL Baden-Württemberg 2012, Neckarbischofsheim (22/04/2012)

First regional ranking event. 6,4 km straight line + 170m climb.
Physically it was OK for the shape I'm in at the moment, pushed a bit harder than in the last few races...
Orienteering was mostly OK, some minor hesitations and 2 bigger mistakes, but on both of those the map was rubbish, too. Still could have avoided or kept them shorter maybe...
Details:
1) First big mistake. There was a big, unmapped path where I was leaving the path from the start which totally confused me, because for a while thought I'm already on the one mapped path. Should have known by distance and contours that's not the case, even it the mapping of the paths was completely of. Was so confused that I searched on the wrong hill top first - silly me. 3:20 lost.
7) Was going a bit too much downhill, but then saw my brother running in the direction of the control, so not much time lost...
9) Second big one, where I mostly blame the map. Came a little bit too far east while climbing, hit the trail, found a path that looked exactly like the mapped one, but wasn't mapped and made a parallel error on unmapped trails - no idea how I could have avoided that one. Then finally was on the mapped trail, but too far up, still confused, after a while had the right idea where I might be, tried to find the control from there, saw a high seat, thought it was the one west of the control, while it was the one near too the food stand, which is nearly not recognizable on the map. So I was of in the wrong direction and confused again. Finally decided it just had to be more west and searched the hill side together with another runner. 7 min. lost
What's really annoying me about that one is that I can't see how I could have avoided it (maybe could have relocated faster, but no way to avoid the initial mistake) and it was poor luck if you ended up on the right or the wrong trails... :(

Without the 2 big ones it would have been a time around 75 min. which would have been great.
